Mentorship Program

NHRA Orange County is excited to offer a mentor program twice a year. 
The next 6-month cohort begins January 2025. Deadline to apply is December 15.

Mentoring is a fundamental human relationship in which one person invests time, energy and expertise to nurture the growth of another person. Mentors are the special people in our lives who help us reach our potential. Mentors may range widely in style — from that of a persistent encourager who boosts our self-confidence to that of a stern taskmaster who teaches us to appreciate excellence in performance but mentors all share the same sincere care for their mentees.

What is a Mentee Responsible for?

  • Preparing and discussing your goals, challenges, and progress during meetings

  • Scheduling the meetings and setting goals

  • Be open to feedback your mentor provides.

  • Give back to your mentor by sharing knowledge and experience they might not be exposed to.

A Mentor/ Mentee Relationship Can Focus On:

  • Career development and management

  • Communication skills

  • Business acumen

  • Networking skills

  • Tactical HR skills

  • Leadership

What is a Mentor Responsible for?

  • Learn about the mentee, their personal and career goals and aspirations, challenges, strengths and weaknesses.

  • Share your experience, successes and failures.

  • Provide a listening environment where the mentee can try out their ideas.

  • Provide actionable advice as well as positive and constructive feedback.

  • Share learning opportunities that may move the mentee in the direction of their goals.
